As to the programme of events, this was as follows:

On the Saturday there was a one-day indoor conference, titled Towards 'a better understanding'
Held at Plas Dolguog Hotel, Penegoes, Machynlleth, Powys, SY20 8UJ.  Tel. 01654 702 244.  Located just outside of Machynlleth on the A489 road to Newtown, at SH 761 017 (View OS Map).

After a welcome address by George Hall, the presentation of conference papers, chaired by David Roe, of new research on under-documented old mines, included : Brynyrafr, Esgairmwyn, Abbey Consols and environs and the Tywyn coal mine, together with new insights on prospecting and smelting matters.

Saturday Evening - Conference dinner, at Plas Dolguog, view the menu here

On the Sunday there was a site visit / field trip led by members of the Society, to Glasdir mine ‘The birthplace of the flotation process’.  Met at 10.30 am, at the carpark at NGR SH 737 227, (View OS Map), approximately one mile from the Ty'n-y-groes Hotel.

Conference proceedings will be edited by Dave Linton, for publication in 2011.
