As to the programme of events, this was as follows:
- Saturday 6thJune - Dinorwig Slate Quarry.
Met at 11.00a.m. at the car park on the left,
(immediately after the water treatment works, SH 584
599 - View OS Map) as you drive along
the road towards the museum and country park. There
is a charge payable by meter of £3. (Note that
parking at the Slate Museum can be problematical as
the gates are locked in the evening.) There is also
free opportunist parking next to the Tea Pot (on main
road) or in the big lay-by below Llanberis Copper
Mine if people don't mind a walk.
Roy Fellows led the way in a steady downpour up to
Austrailia Level, starting at the Vivian inclines -
the rain didn't let up all day.
Met at 10.30a.m. at the Old Station Car Park, Tal
y Sarn, (SH 488 529 - View OS Map) for a visit which
included an historical account and a visit to the
interior of the Cornish engine house. After this, a
stroll was taken around the surrounding quarries.
Unfortunately, time didn't allow a visit to the Bettws
Garmon Iron Mine.
